Vintage Indian Painted Teak Wood Fairground Sign

A wonderfully rare antique Indian teak wood fairground sign dating from the 1930’s. With fine original paint and strong iron hanging hooks at the rear. Travelling fairs were commonplace in pre-war India and would have used animal drawn carts to transport carriages and animals like tigers and leopards around the country. This sign would have been displayed at the front or rear of such a carriage. Now a wonderful and unique indoor decor piece that would grace any home. It is an old piece made by hand many years ago, with a beautiful colour and patina which really shows its age and history, and there are some historic repairs and age related marks and wear and tear as you would expect for an item of this age.
