Our wonderful painted antique Indian teak wood shutter mirrors are made from reclaimed shutter windows rescued from crumbling havellis in Gujarat State. The frames and shutters are entirely original, and we have saved them and given them a new life by adding a mirror. Each has strong rear iron wall mounts so that they can be quickly and easily put up. Shutter windows like this come in a huge array of colours, sizes and styles reflecting the many cultures that influenced the land over centuries, and were designed to keep out the heat during the day, whilst allowing air in to circulate at night. They were also seen as a safety feature. They are made from old wood, cut by hand many years ago, with a beautiful colour and patina which really shows its age and history, and there are some historic repairs and age related marks and wear and tear as you would expect for wood of this age.
