These antique Indian teak wood and iron jali dog gates are exceptional 19th-century originals, salvaged from Gujarati havelis in India. Dating back to approximately 1880–1900, they were traditionally used to keep dogs in and other animals out at the entrance of these historic homes. Personally sourced by a member of Jardinopia in Rajasthan, India, these gates embody authentic craftsmanship with original iron fittings and a stunning patina that has developed over 150 years.
Now beautifully repurposed, they serve as entry garden gates for cottages, walled gardens, greenhouses, patios, or terraces. Their timeless design also makes them ideal as decorative pieces indoors or as props for films recreating historical India. Constructed from durable teak wood, these gates are suitable for outdoor use in the UK climate. To preserve their colours when used outside, we recommend applying a clear protective lacquer.
While fully functional, these gates retain their original condition with age-related marks and historic repairs that add to their unique charm. Dimensions: 103 x 5 x 92 cm (40.6 x 2 x 36.2 inches).
