Antique Jasailmer Stone Half Round Door Jali Carving On Iron Stand With Tealight Candle Holders

Fine and rare antique Indian Jali stone half round window carving from Jasailmer in northern Rajasthan. We have created a strong iron stand with two integral tealight holders to show off this wonderful piece, that has been entirely carved by hand over a century ago by skilled craftsmen in Jasailmer. Jali’s were placed on external walls of the finest havelli’s to allow air to circulate in hot temperatures. These are typically found in the desert regions of Rajasthan where temperatures can exceed 50 degrees & this style usually sat above doors to allow air to circulate in. So many of these havellis have now been torn down or abandoned & we have rescue these fine works of art in their own right for future generations. As with all old stone items, cut and carved by hand many many years ago, with a beautiful colour and patina which really shows its age and history, and there are some historic age related marks and wear and tear as you would expect for stone carvings of this age.
