Antique Indian Teak Wood Surti Coffee Table Chest – 19th Century

This rustic antique Indian teak wood Surti chest was crafted in the 19th century from thick teak wood, reinforced with iron and brass binding for extra strength. Retaining its original painted teak wood condition, this chest showcases its rich history and character.

In Gujarat State during the Victorian era, chests like this were custom-made to store valuables such as textiles, jewellery, dowry, and cash, secured with strong padlocks. This chest is the perfect height and depth for a coffee table and doubles as a storage box for magazines, newspapers, and books. It also comes with wheels for easy movement.
