This rustic antique Indian teak wood Quarter Surti chest was crafted in the 19th century from thick teak wood and reinforced with iron and brass binding for extra strength. Retaining its original blue painted finish, this chest showcases its rich history and character.
In Gujarat State during the Victorian era, chests like this were custom-made to store valuables such as textiles, jewellery, dowry, and cash, secured with strong padlocks. This chest is the perfect height and depth for a coffee table and doubles as a storage box for magazines, newspapers, and books. Makes for a great hall storage bench too.
