This stunning pair of antique Indian teak wood and iron Jali doors originates from the late 19th century (c.1880-1900). Salvaged from a historic building in Gujarat State, India, these doors are steeped in history and character. They feature original heavy-duty iron locks and bolts, intricate latticework (Jali design), and remnants of vibrant old paint, all complemented by a fabulous patina built up over centuries.

Historically, these doors served as secure yet ventilated barriers in prominent homes, often positioned at the end of paths or drives or mounted in front of solid doors to allow air circulation without compromising security. Locally referred to as Lakdi Aur Lohe Ka Darwaza (wood and iron door) or Guthi Jali door (see-through lattice design), they represent traditional Indian architectural ingenuity.

Their versatile design makes them ideal for:

  • Rustic or modern feature walls in homes or offices.

  • Grand entrances to walled gardens, patios, or terraces.

  • Unique shutters or partitions.

  • Props for film sets recreating historical India.

Each door has been personally sourced by a member of the Jardinopia team during their travels in Rajasthan, ensuring authenticity and heritage value. While age-related wear and historic repairs are visible, these marks enhance their vintage appeal. For outdoor use, we recommend applying a clear protective lacquer to preserve their colours for years to come.

Dimensions (for both doors together):
Height: 166 cm (65.4 inches) | Width: 107 cm (42.1 inches) | Depth: 7 cm (2.8 inches)
