This rustic antique Indian teak wood storage chest was crafted in the 19th century from thick teak wood and reinforced with iron and brass binding for extra strength. Retaining its original painted finish, this chest showcases its rich history and character.
Custom-made by the head of a family in Gujarat State during the Victorian era, this chest was originally used to store valuables such as textiles, jewellery, dowry, and cash. Secured with strong padlocks for maximum security, it reflects the cultural diversity and craftsmanship of India. Today, it serves as a functional coffee table while doubling as a storage box for magazines, books, or other household items.
This one-of-a-kind piece has a lovely patina that highlights its age and history. As with any antique furniture, there are some minor historic repairs and age-related marks that add to its charm.
