Antique painted Indian teak wood Hindu ‘Lord Krishna’ swing, forming part of a hindu prayer ritual ensemble. The swing, or jhula of Lord Krishna, holds a special place in Hindu culture and tradition. It symbolizes the divine and is often used in celebrations and ceremonies to honor Lord Krishna and invoke his blessings. Lord Krishna’s swing, also known as the Laddo Gopal Jhula or Shree Krishna Jhula, has its roots in Hindu mythology. According to tradition, Lord Krishna was a mischievous child who loved to play and have fun. One of his favorite pastimes was swinging on a jhula made of ropes and wood. Lord Krishna’s swing became a symbol of his divine playfulness and joy as he grew older. In Hindu culture, Lord Krishna is revered as a deity and is believed to be a manifestation of the supreme God. Today they are often repurposed for piot plants and planters OR as it was orininally intended and used as a swing chair indoors or outside. It is made from old wood, cut by hand many years ago, with a beautiful colour and patina which really shows its age and history, and there are some historic repairs and age related marks and wear and tear as you would expect for wood of this age.
