Antique Indian teak wood painted almirah (originally an Arabic (almarah or almari) and Persian derived word, but adopted later by India) kitchen display or storage cupboard of fine proportion and beautiful colour, with remnants of original paint, dating from c1900. This fantastically versatile glass fronted (and glass side panels) cupboard is made from solid teak wood and dates from the start of the twentieth century, making it over 100 years old. It hails from Gujarat State and has 2 very useful shelves and double glass panelled doors. These cupboards are called Kaanch Almirahs, and were used originally in the drawing rooms of wealthier houses to display items of value, or in large kitchens to store crockery. Today these cupboards are repurposed as additional freestanding kitchen or utility room storage cupboards in the UK, as well as display units for your collections. They can be used in any room throughout the house, but look great in bathrooms too. All come in great original condition, with fine old paint and iron fittings, and as an old piece, there are some historic age related marks and wear and tear as you would expect. Please be sure to check all photos as these form part of the description. Dimensions: 76 x 44 x 101
