High quality antique Indian matched pair of teak wood ‘Veranda’ or Plantation Easy Chairs’ from Southern India. These were widely found in the havelis and senior civil servant houses in the early part of the last century, as well as the tea plantation properties – from which they get their name. With swing pivot extended arms to allow for legs to be raised, and to create a comfortable resting position in the heat, this fine and original matched pair dates from the 1890-1910. The natural weave jute has been restored more recently. As with all antiques of approximately a hundred+ years old, there are signs of minor wear and tear as seen in the pictures, but they come with a fantastic patina. This lovely matched pair of chairs would look great outside on a patio or decking, or in a hallway or conservatory and will be fine outside all year around as its teak hardwood. Dimensions: 66 x 140 x 86 cm
