Antique Indian Large Painted Teak Wood Thakat Coffee Table

This wonderfully rare and original nineteenth century painted teak wood thakat table is heavy and comes with a solid table top. It has almost certainly come from a large well to do Victorian household, and was used to gather around and eat from, with guests sat on the floor. Now well over 120 years old in Indian teak wood, it is in beautiful original condition, ready to grace any lounge, as a perfect sized coffee table, with rooms for books or magazines. Tables like this from India are found in an extraordinary variety of styles, sizes, colours and shapes reflecting the many purposes and regions they came from. It is now very hard to find these in such a good size and in original condition, that can be usefully placed anywhere. This is also a unique one of piece which was made by hand many years ago and has a lovely patina which really shows its age and history.
