This beautifully original late nineteenth/early 20th century (well over 100 years old) Indian teak wood and cast iron bench was made to last from thick teak wood to give it extra strength, and beautifully cast. In Hindi these are called lakdi aur lohe ki. It is in beautiful original natural condition, and would have come from a grand Victorian/Edwardian park or memorial garden that started to become prevalent in the big industrial Raj cities like Madras, Bombay, Delhi & Calcutta. Benches from India are found in an extraordinary variety of styles, sizes, colours and shapes reflecting the many cultures that influenced India, and are generally made from teak. This bench is the perfect feature for a UK garden, patio or terrace, but coud also sit comfortably in a large hallway or waiting room. Our bench was we believe made in Rajasthan. It is a good sized and very heavy utility piece that can be usefully placed anywhere. This is also a unique one of piece which was made by hand many years ago and has a lovely patina which really shows its age and history. There are some historic minor repairs and age related marks and wear and tear as you would expect. Please be sure to check all photos as these form part of the description. Dimensions: Width 190cm x Depth 52cm x Height 80cm.
