Description
Our antique Indian teak wood pillar base candle holders are all totally unique and date from the eighteenth and nineteenth century. We have added a rustic iron candle holder to the middle to make them functional. Each is intricately carved from solid teak, and often come with much of the original paint insitu. Our bases are salvaged from old buildings in Gujarat State and Rajasthan and saved for future generations! In a previous life they would have supported the tops and bottoms of teak columns that stood outside grand houses in eighteenth and nineteenth century India. This example has beautiful ornate hand carvings all over it and lots of wonderful old paint with a fine patina. They look great as a centre piece of the side board, console table, fire hearth or the kitchen table. They are also lovely outside for BBQs. It would be perfect for a period property or even to add character to a new style home. These column bases are saved from buildings in India which have fallen into a state of disrepair and are no longer rescuable. This is clearly an old piece and there are some historic repairs and age related marks and wear and tear as you would expect. Please be sure to check all photos as these form part of the description. Dimensions: Length 22cm x Depth 24cm x Height 17cm.
