Antique Indian teak wood almirah (originally an Arabic (almarah or almari) and Persian derived word, but adopted later by India) kitchen cupboard of fine proportion and beautiful colour, dating from c1880-1900. This fantastically versatile glass fronted cupboard is made from solid teak wood and dates from the start of the twentieth century, making it over 120 years old. It hails from Gujarat State and has three very useful shelves and two glass doors, with additional side glass panels. These cupboards are called Kaanch Almirahs, and were used originally in the drawing rooms of wealthier houses to display items of value, or in large kitchens to store crockery. Today these cupboards are repurposed as additional freestanding kitchen or utility room storage cupboards in the UK, as well as display units for your collections. They can be used in any room throughout the house. All come in great original condition, with fine old paint and iron fittings, and as an old piece, there are some historic age related marks and wear and tear as you would expect. Please be sure to check all photos as these form part of the description.
