Description
Our reclaimed cast iron window light mirror called a Lohe Ki Khidki in Hindi (Lohe Ki in Hindi meaning ‘made of iron’ and Khidki meaning ‘window’) has been made by craftsmen from repurposed Victorian window lights that sat above good quality front doors across India. These were used for both ventilation and light. They are mostly half moon shaped, with traces of the original paint, and some have intricate designs within them. They come from old buildings that are too dilapidated to repair, in Rajasthan, Gujarat State and Northern India and through repurposing are saved for future generations as mirrors! They are all nineteenth (or earlier) century originals. Sometimes with some minor restoration required to ensure they reach you in original but in a fully functional solid condition. Our mirrors can be safely used in any room in the house or outside on a garden or garage wall. As an old piece and there are some historic repairs and age related marks and wear and tear as you would expect. Please be sure to check all photos as these form part of the description. Dimensions: Length 103cm x Depth 3cm x Height 57cm.
